Charlotte Content Marketing in the Charlotte Business Journal: The Power of Unified Content and Why Silos No Longer Work
We were honored to be featured in a recent Charlotte Business Journal article about the power of podcasting for business owners.
Charlotte Content Marketing was recently featured in the Charlotte Business Journal, and man…what an honor! CCM Founder Andrew Rusnak was interviewed about how our podcast production solutions drive leads and form stronger customer relationships, and he shared a bit of inside knowledge about the long-term benefits of podcasting for business owners.
You can read the full story here, but you’ll need a Charlotte Business Journal subscription. For those without a subscription, we’ve included some excerpts below:
“Andrew Rusnak, whose company Charlotte Content Marketing produces The Doc Dudes, says the human connection in podcasting just works.
“It’s a sales tool, yeah, but it offers the ability to showcase authenticity,” says Rusnak, adding that these “preselling opportunities for business” can be more effective than traditional advertising.
“People tune out ads, so how do you cut through the clutter and at same time provide value and relevant content? Podcasting is a way to do that. It’s almost a one-on-one where you are in room with them and able to ask questions.”
“Rusnak with Charlotte Content Marketing says some marketing teams are creating short reels or video clips that appear to be part of a larger podcast but were intended for social media all along. The value, he says, is that podcast content and social-media posts add to brand awareness in the way marketing teams are always chasing search-engine optimization.
“SEO used to just be about a website. These days we call it Search Everywhere Optimization,” Rusnak says. “We are not just focused on websites because with AI search, you’ve got to be hitting on all cylinders across all platforms, and it all has to tie in together. AI is training off of podcast transcripts. It’s an omnichannel approach to digital marketing.”
Siloed content is a surefire way to kill a content strategy, especially as the web expands and customers search in more and more places online.
Siloed Content is a Dying Strategy
Andrew’s point about “Search Everywhere Optimization” points to the major shift happening right now: customers don’t stay on one channel. Instead, they bounce between podcasts, social feeds, email, traditional and AI search results, and other places on the web. To capitalize on this shift, your brand needs to be everywhere you’re customers are.
Beyond just reach, you also need to deliver a consistent experience. Customers expect your brand voice, messaging, and value to feel consistent and connected wherever they encounter you. When content lives in silos, meaning it’s cordoned off from other content elements, it’s easy to lose consistent messaging and branding.
The Disconnect
And while it may sound easy enough to tackle this problem, there are a number of pitfalls. For instance, businesses often have one person handling social media posts while another tries to put together video reels.
Another is responsible for sending out an email newsletter, and yet another is tasked with developing blog posts. Someone else may be trying to piece together a podcast using smartphone footage and wireless mics, and yet another is putting together ads with no experience or guidance.
When all aspects of a content strategy aren’t unified, you end up wasting time and resources.
The Right Hand Doesn’t Know What the Left is Doing
In this type of scenario (which is common among small-to-medium sized businesses and even larger organizations,) the right hand doesn’t know what the left is doing. Each of these people are operating within their own silo, and the sad reality is that, in most cases, these moving parts are not working together.
There may be a common goal, like “attract more leads” or “promote a new product”, but without tying everything together across all content initiatives, these companies end up spinning their wheels.
When this happens, it can feel like content marketing is a waste of time, resources, and money, and business owners often give up as a result.
Meanwhile, competitors who embrace true omnichannel strategies pull ahead. From our experience, a single well-produced podcast episode can become:
Short video clips for social media to boost engagement and reach.
Blog posts or show notes for SEO.
Transcript-powered assets that feed AI search engines and long-tail discoverability.
Email snippets to nurture leads over time.
Our Search Everywhere Optimization approach ensures that all content initiatives land the same no matter where they get published. The messaging stays consistent, and more importantly, the experience feels the same to buyers.
The benefits of omnichannel content marketing compound over time, but your brand can also create multiple pieces of content from one single asset.
Everything Compounds
The real power behind our Search Everywhere Optimization approach is that all of these initiatives compound over time. Brand awareness builds faster. Trust deepens through repeated authentic contact with multiple touchpoints. Results (leads, relationships, conversions, etc.) improve because the content works harder across every platform instead of in isolation.
In fact, at Charlotte Content Marketing, we’ve built our entire model around rejecting silos because the data shows that they just don’t work anymore. This has become especially true with AI on the scene and the rise of zero-click search.
It All Starts With Your Goals
When our team considers taking on a project, we start with your business goals in mind, then develop and execute a unified content strategy that turns high-value assets (podcasts, videos, social media, thought leadership pieces, etc.) into multi-channel amplifiers. We look for alignment across your entire content marketing strategy to ensure our efforts reach your target audience with the right messaging, consistently.
Much like the construction process, omnichannel content marketing builds from a foundation and expands from there to create lasting value.
Exponential Support Builds Lasting Value
Every decision is made with the goal in mind, but we’re also considering how each piece of the puzzle supports the next in achieving that goal.
Can we find ways to strengthen one content initiative based on something that’s already been developed?
Can we amplify one resource without taking away resources from another part of the whole?
What does the data tell us about audiences, and how does that impact publishing decisions?
The good news is that you don’t have to keep spinning your wheels in silos. At Charlotte Content Marketing, we take the guesswork out of building a unified content ecosystem, starting with your specific business goals and developing full, omnichannel strategies that work for your business 24/7.
